This project was my GCSE Design & Technology final piece — a functioning floor lamp made from eight CNC-cut plywood pieces, bent over a custom form to create a curve that directs light over a workspace. Steel weights are stored in the base for stability, and a COB LED strip produces the light through an acrylic diffuser.
This project gave me my first real insight into toolpaths and automated manufacturing — understanding how a CNC machine translates a digital path into a physical cut. It's something I've continued to build on throughout my degree.
The CAD model and exploded views were created retrospectively, after the physical lamp was finished, but accurately represent the final design.
